Our mission
Hengo was founded in 2026 to solve a specific problem: businesses operating across Canada, the US, and Costa Rica had no single accounting platform that handled all three tax systems and currencies well. Most accounting software is built for one country. Businesses with cross-border operations were forced to use multiple tools, manually convert currencies, and reconcile tax obligations across jurisdictions — a time-consuming and error-prone process.
Hengo changes this by natively supporting GST/HST/QST, US state sales tax, and Costa Rican IVA in one platform, with multi-currency accounting (CAD/USD/CRC) built in from the ground up. Whether you are a freelancer in Montreal, a small business in San José, or an accounting firm with clients in all three countries, Hengo gives you one workspace to manage your books.
Who Hengo serves
Hengo is built for three audiences:
- Freelancers and sole proprietors who need simple bookkeeping, invoicing, and tax handling in one currency.
- Small businesses with higher transaction volumes, multiple workspaces, and the need for project tracking and bill pay automation.
- Accounting firms and bookkeepers who manage multiple clients and need engagement letters, workpapers, audit trails, and API access.
Each audience gets the features they need at a price that scales. See our pricing page for details.
Where Hengo operates
Hengo is available in English, French, and Spanish, serving businesses in Canada (all provinces, including Quebec with bilingual GST/TPS and QST/TVQ labels), the United States (all 50 states with state-level sales tax support), and Costa Rica (with IVA, facturación electrónica, and colones support). Data residency options ensure compliance with cross-border data protection requirements.
